halfadozentimes asked: Sorry if somebody has asked this before and I didn't see it, but out of curiosity, why do you use a picture of a coyote for the meme? I mean, besides the title of your blog and all, because the idea for using a coyote must have an origin. ^^ Also I really love your blog, I'm not a camp counselor -I'm too young at the moment- but I love camp and I can still relate to most of them.

Answer:

I most definitely have not been asked this question! :) I did try to come up with several different animals, all starting with ‘C’ to keep up the alliteration. I tried out canary, crocodile, condor, cobra and cougar before settling on coyote. Coyotes are relatively universally known animals, especially in relation to camps- they live all throughout North and South America, Europe, Asia and Australia. I’m sure almost anybody that’s been to a summer camp has heard, heard of or seen a coyote at least once in their lifetime. Since they’re an animal known universally and are one of several animals connected directly to camps, coyotes are relatable.

Coyotes are also strongly family-oriented animals who work together to raise their pups and are renowned for having a very distinct way of communicating with each other. :) Coyotes really are one of the few animals that really represent all camp counselors!

And thank you so much! I’m glad you’re enjoying CCC <3.
