Camp Counselor Coyote
A blog for camp counselors and those who love them to share their best summer camp memories!
Magic, 20, is an 11 year Girl Scout camp attendee and camp counselor herself and loves all things about the outdoors.
Hey, guys! For the coyotes in my pack living in the United States, I hope you voted! It’s going to be a close race! Remember to keep the peace on your blog, in your community, at school, and at home. I hope nobody’s signs are getting nicked and no one is getting physically attacked.
For my coyotes who were and still are being affected by Sandy, stay safe! All of October and into this month has been nutty, so I hope everybody’s keeping their heads straight and their shoes dry.
The coyote is hungry! I haven’t had submissions in a while- not a single one over the summer or afterward! Please send me camp stories and coyotes for publishing :) They are desperately desired.
Love you all!
i-cant-help-it-that-im-sopopular asked: I love this page so much. I work at a girl scout camp up in Maine and have been going 15 years and counting. Pretty sure my followers are annoyed because I've been reblogging everything from you! But it's all so accurate! haha. Thanks for being awesome. :)
Aww! I’m so glad you like it! The sense of international community is really what keeps this blog going :) Knowing that girls and ladies from all over the world share the same experiences and emotions is super great.
Holy wow, you guys, I’m on other people’s Pinterests and I’ve even got a post on Weheartit. People really dig this meme!
Psssst: I read all of the stories you add to your reblogs, guys.
maddeesun asked: I just found your site. And have been reading them all morning. I've been involved with a girl scout camp since I was ten. I worked as a counselor for 4 years there and this year I'm the assistant director of the camp. Everything on here is so true. And makes me laugh so hard. I'm sad that this is my last year being able to work at camp. But, once a counselor always a counselor. I know in real life around children I pull out my old counselor tricks all the time.
Gosh! It sounds like you have some real memories at camp :) I’m glad.
&& You’re absolutely right! Even if you don’t get to trek the trails anymore, that counselor spirit is really in your heart forever. Trust me, it’s a beautiful thing that just sticks with ya. And if you’re working with kids, you’ll definitely need to pull out your counselor tricks. They never go out of style.
mandielizabeth asked: hahaha, I love seeing the little variations between your master post of songs and comparing your lyrics to the ones we do at my GS camp... we say the cannibal king falls in love with a husky maid lol ;)
Yeah, I’ve visited a couple camps that sing it that way!! I actually really love visiting other camps and singing with people from other camps to hear the way they do it- especially if we’re singing together and sing different lines. We usually burst into a fit of giggles and ruin the whole thing. It’s so much fun.
I remember one really nerve-wracking time I was camping with my Girl Scout troop on Camano Island, and they asked me to sing a camp song- not just in front of them, but in front of some older ladies there who happened to be former Girl Scouts. I was so nervous I was stumbling over the lines, but the ladies knew the words and together we cobbled together a mixed-up version and it was kind of nice … :)
thelostgirlofhogwarts asked: I'm loving your blog! I'm going to be a CIT this summer, so I've been in a camp mood lately = D
I’m glad! Let me know how it went!
